Kari Bengtson has a rich and diverse background in writing and the creative arts. As a former litigation paralegal and the owner of a small cupcake company, Kari’s keen eye for detail and intuitive sense of creativity serve as a powerful combination of tools to assist the SBEC administrative and marketing teams in seamlessly blending the intellectual and aesthetic worlds.

What is your hidden talent? I have several: I can wiggle my eyes, sing, paint, cook, and bake.

What is the best advice you have ever been given? “Work smarter, not harder.”

If you had a superpower, what would it be? Teleportation.

What is your all-time favorite commercial? Any of the Budweiser Clydesdale commercials… they make me cry every time!

Who is your celebrity doppelganger? Julia Stiles.  Someone once stopped me on a plane because he thought I was her.

Number one thing that gets on your nerves? Two that are tied for first place: dishonesty and arrogance.

If you won the lottery, what would you do? Build a big house with a huge kitchen, several bedrooms/bathrooms, and a multi-car garage, buy houses for a few close family members, and donate to a few causes that are dear to me.

What is your favorite book? Stephen King’s The Green Mile.
