SBEC is providing mechanical, electrical and plumbing engineering and design for the physics replacement building. The facility is intended to be a state of the art building at the core of campus with forward thinking design featuring flexible laboratory space to help accommodate record-breaking research volume and support regular, cross-disciplinary collaboration among faculty and students alike and customized classrooms incorporating the latest technologies to foster interactive, hands-on learning which will enable Mines to incorporate its successful studio model into additional course offerings.
The facility is intended to be based on a new model of lab design – one that creates environments that are responsive to present needs and capable of accommodating future demands.
The facility will house a significant fraction of the CASE educational and research facilities including:
- Chemistry and Geochemistry
- Chemical and Biological Engineering
- Metallurgical and Materials Engineering
- Physics
- Materials Science Program
- Nuclear Science and Engineering Program
