SBEC provided mechanical and electrical engineering consulting services for the new addition. Specific scope of work included:

  • Two floors of ICU patient rooms, total of 48 private/semi-private rooms
  • Two isolation rooms per floor
  • Nurse core areas included nurse station, clean & soiled utility rooms, nutrition and medication prep
  • Addition was built on top of existing ground floor emergency and radiology areas
  • Emergency and radiology areas remained in operation during construction
  • Two new traction elevators
  • New mechanical penthouse
  • New 480V electrical service was provided including 3000A switchboard
  • Interface with utility on new 13.2kV primary distribution feed
  • New 480/277V and 208/120V distribution system
  • New 480V motor control center for mechanical equipment
  • New bypass/isolation transfer switch for equipment branch power
  • New life safety and critical branch power tie into existing distribution
  • Designed new Hill Rom nurse call system
  • Designed infrastructure for telemetry system
  • Designed cable TV distribution system
  • Designed pathways for telephone/data cabling
