Shaffer • Baucom Engineering & Consulting provided mechanical and electrical engineering design services and construction phase services for the new University of Denver Engineering & Computer Science + Knoebel Center for the Study of Aging.

The new building will expand interdisciplinary STEM (science, technology, engineering and mathematics) offerings and will  provide space for increased collaboration among complementary programs, creating a hub for interdisciplinary research and scholarship. The center will also function as the anchor for STEM related disciplines.

The building is located on the southern part of DU’s campus.

The new building is comprised of the following spaces:

  • Mechanical & Electrical Engineering Labs (includes: Applied Research +Technology, Computer Science, Electrical and Computer Engineering, Mechanical and Materials Engineering Laboratory)
  • Dynamometer Test Lab
  • Vivarium
  • Wet Biological Labs
  • Kitchen area
  • Classrooms
  • Event spaces
  • Break-room areas
  • Seminar & conference rooms
  • Paint Spray Booth – 2,000 CFM, 5x4x3 foot bench top type
