The new Aerospace Engineering Sciences facility at the University of Colorado Boulder will provide an additional 175,000 SF of classroom, laboratory, and engineering spaces for the Aerospace Engineering Department, expanding opportunities for students, and development of our next generation of space technology. The Aerospace Engineering Sciences department is one of the fastest growing and most diverse programs at CU Boulder, with 150 new students expected to start their program in the new building this Fall. The university is very excited to unveil this new, world-class facility and the opportunities it will provide for new and returning students.

Once construction is completed, the AES department will relocate from its current home in the Engineering Sciences building. Existing AES spaces in the Engineering Building will then be renovated to provide new opportunities for students in the program.

The ceremony was hosted by Dean Bobby Braun and the CU Regents. Members of the AES faculty, aerospace industry representatives, and other guests, including Governor John Hickenlooper’s Aerospace Champion, General Jay Lindell, attended the gala.

After opening remarks from Dean Braun, guests signed the building’s final beam and were given a tour of the facility. A great time was had by all.

Shaffer Baucom Engineering & Consulting is very proud to join Hord Coplan Macht and the staff of the University of Colorado’s Facility Management Department as part of this historic and forward-looking addition to the CU campus. We congratulate the faculty and students, and look forward to supporting the future growth of the university.
